“For the Future” Scholarship
At Dudley DeBosier, we believe that ending distracted driving deaths starts with awareness, and awareness begins with education. That’s why we created the “For the Future” Scholarship.
We challenged Louisiana high school and college students to produce original videos encouraging young people not to text and drive. Applicants were also asked to submit a short essay reflecting on the importance of road safety and how their generation can influence change.

OUR 2026 WINNERS
The 2026 winners of the four “For the Future” Scholarships are:
Tafari, a junior majoring in Film and Media Studies at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, used his storytelling skills to create a compelling video that addressed the real and lasting consequences of distracted driving. His passion for the issue stems from hearing stories of families permanently changed by a single moment of distraction.
Logan’s creative video campaign addressed distracted driving through a lens shaped by personal experience. After witnessing a serious crash shortly after he began driving—and knowing his uncle lost his life to a drunk driving incident—Logan understands firsthand the life-altering consequences of unsafe driving.
Blake’s video delivered a compelling and action-driven message about personal accountability behind the wheel. It emphasized that safer roads begin with individual choices, such as avoiding distractions, refusing to drive under the influence, and speaking up when friends make unsafe decisions.
Maliyah’s video emphasized the importance of staying focused behind the wheel and tips for breaking common bad habits that lead to distractions. As a future ER nurse, Maliyah hopes to make a difference in the community through her video by encouraging drivers to stay focused on the task at hand and avoid distractions no matter what.
Congratulations to each of our four winners! Their exceptional videos were highly effective at educating viewers about the dangers of distracted driving. We wish each of you the best of luck in your educational journeys, and we look forward to seeing your achievements during the coming years.
