Nearly 2,000 people signed up for our “Free Cab Ride Home” program for St. Patrick’s Day in Baton Rouge. This is the 5th year the firm has offered free cab rides home for this day of celebration.

Each year, the St. Patrick’s Day Parade is one of the most popular events in Baton Rouge.  However, there is often an increase in the number of drunk driving incidents on that date.  Dudley DeBosier Injury Lawyers partnered with Uber to create a program targeted at reducing the amount of drinking and driving during this holiday. The premise of the program was pretty simple. If you had a drink and needed a ride home, Dudley DeBosier picked up the cost of your Uber ride to get you there safely.

Chad Dudley, a partner at Dudley DeBosier, commented, “The St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Baton Rouge is an awesome event.  It is a great day to enjoy with friends and family, but we always want to encourage everyone to enjoy it responsibly.  We would like to thank everyone that participated in our program and helped make Baton Rouge safer by not drinking and driving.”

Valerie Cox, Program Manager at Mothers Against Drunk Driving, stated “The St. Patrick’s Day holiday is closely tied with drinking. So, it continually makes the list of the most dangerous holidays in the country.  365 people lost their lives due to drunk driving crashes during the St. Patrick’s holiday period from 2010 to 2015 (NHTSA). MADD Louisiana applauds Dudley DeBosier for their efforts in reducing the numbers of impaired driving in the Baton Rouge area by offering free UBER rides to individuals who would be including alcohol in their St. Patrick’s Day activities”

According to The Advocate, DUI arrests were down by 50% this weekend compared to the weekend of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in 2016.
