Yet despite the industry’s multimillion dollar advertising budgets, there’s one message that their spokespeople and mascots often neglect to mention—how much more money injury victims get from car insurance companies if they hire a lawyer.

According to a 2014 report from the Insurance Research Council, injury victims with a lawyer, on average, get 3.5 times more money than people without a lawyer.
