Supporting a Military Mom with Long-Overdue Home Repairs
Robin R has spent many years supporting her family and her country. Her son joined the Louisiana National Guard, continuing a legacy of service and sacrifice. But after their home suffered significant flood damage, Robin and her son were left living in difficult conditions, including using a makeshift outdoor bathroom while waiting for repairs.
Through the Difference Maker program, Dudley DeBosier partnered with UWK to help restore dignity and comfort to their home. By stepping in to assist with home repairs, the project helped ensure Robin and her son could have a safer, more functional living space. It was a small way to say thank you to a family that had given so much to their community and country.
Helping a Pointe Coupee Grandmother Restore Her Home
Christy C, a grandmother caring for her special-needs grandchild, found herself in an incredibly difficult situation. After hiring a contractor to repair a damaged roof, she was left without the repairs and money she had saved to fix the problem. The unfinished work left her home vulnerable and her family facing uncertainty.
Through the Difference Maker initiative, Dudley DeBosier and UWK stepped in to help complete the roof repairs. The project provided more than just a physical fix—it also restored peace of mind and stability for Christy and her family.
Supporting an Expectant Mother in a Time of Need
When 25-year-old Kerri B was nominated by her neighbor, it was clear she represented the strength and resilience found throughout Louisiana communities. As she prepared to welcome her child, she faced significant challenges and uncertainty about the future.
