Summer Safety
May 1, 2017Summer is fast approaching and soon we will be slipping and sliding, swimming and enjoying fun summer weather. However, don’t let your outdoor fun turn into a serious injury. Follow these safety tips to ensure you and your family are safe this summer:
Water Safety:
- Never leave children unsupervised in the water
- Always wear a lifejacket when boating
- Never swim alone
Outdoor Safety:
- Always wear sunscreen and insect repellent
- Beat the heat and dress infants and children in loose, light colored clothing
- Never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle, even if the windows are cracked
- Stay hydrated
- Watch-out for poison ivy
- Check playground equipment before letting your children play on it
Firework Safety:
- Only light one firework at a time
- Watch any children handling sparklers
- Always keep a bucket of water nearby
- Soak all fireworks in water before disposing of them
- Remember, fireworks are hot!
