May 1st, 2017

Summer is fast approaching and soon we will be slipping and sliding, swimming and enjoying fun summer weather. However, don’t let your outdoor fun turn into a serious injury. Follow these safety tips to ensure you and your family are safe this summer:

Water Safety:

  • Never leave children unsupervised in the water
  • Always wear a lifejacket when boating
  • Never swim alone

Outdoor Safety:

  • Always wear sunscreen and insect repellent
  • Beat the heat and dress infants and children in loose, light colored clothing
  • Never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle, even if the windows are cracked
  • Stay hydrated
  • Watch-out for poison ivy
  • Check playground equipment before letting your children play on it

Firework Safety:

  • Only light one firework at a time
  • Watch any children handling sparklers
  • Always keep a bucket of water nearby
  • Soak all fireworks in water before disposing of them
