Last Friday, June 17, 2016, we hosted our annual luncheon for the winners of the 2016 Scholarship Program. Partners, Steven DeBosier and Chad Dudley, were present to celebrate the achievements of our 2016 scholarship winners.
It gets more difficult each year to pick the winners of our scholarship program, and we are proud of all of our aspiring students in Louisiana. As we reviewed all of our scholarship submissions these past few weeks, we were moved, impacted, and above all – inspired. However, there were a few that stood out.
Congratulations to our 2016’s winners; selected based on a criteria of academic achievement and ability to overcome hardship: Andre Boudreaux, Bria Granville, Caroline Magee, Donald Clark, Godis Jackson, Jack Dixon, Joshua Myers, Melissa Fenderson received $1,000 scholarships for their written essays, and Colton Scariano received a $2,000 scholarship for a public service announcement video.
In addition to the scholarships, each student received a $100 gift card to assist with school supplies. One student was randomly drawn to win a new Macbook Air laptop.
This year’s scholarship recipients ranged from football players to aspiring actors, but each of them had overcome exceptional challenges while maintaining academic success. The majority of the students will be attending Louisiana universities in the fall, but a couple are leaving to attend out of state schools.
Dudley DeBosier Injury Lawyers created the scholarship program in 2011 to enhance the educational opportunities available to students in schools within the community. The firm considers education an important base for creating a rewarding and fulfilling career.
Chad Dudley, partner at Dudley DeBosier, states, “We started this program several years ago and it grows and grows each year. Every year we have some amazing applicants who inspire us with their stories of overcoming adversity to pursue their dreams. We are proud to support these students in their efforts.”
Thank you to our winners and to everyone who applied to our scholarship program. Because of you, we have a reason to think that the future of Louisiana is looking bright!
